On behalf of the dedicated members of the Greenhills Police Department, I would like to welcome you to the Greenhills Police Department web site.  Our agency is a great police department serving a great community. It is a sincere honor to lead such a professional organization.

The Greenhills Police Department has been accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).  CALEA accreditation affirms the professional status of law enforcement agencies worldwide, marking a significant accomplishment for the men and women of the department.

Neil R. Ferdelman
Chief of Police


Neil Ferdelman has been in law enforcement since January of 1976, when he was appointed as a Police Cadet in Hamilton, Ohio.  He served as a member of the Hamilton Police Department for 36 years with assignments as a Police Officer, Traffic Officer, Police Detective, Police Sergeant, and Police Lieutenant.  He was appointed Chief of Police in 1998 and served in that capacity for over 13 years until his retirement in 2012.  He returned to the department as a full time consultant until his appointment here.  The Hamilton Police Department had 174 employees with Patrol, Traffic, Detective and Services Divisions and focused on Community-Oriented and Problem-Oriented Policing.  He also served as the city’s Interim Deputy City Manager and acting City Manager.

Chief Ferdelman is a Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Cincinnati with a Baccalaureate Degree in Criminal Justice.  He is certified by the International Association of Law Enforcement Planners as an Advanced Law Enforcement Planner, is a graduate of Session XXVII of the Police Executive Leadership College, the Law Enforcement Foundation; and a graduate of Session 163, Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar, FBI.

He served as an Assessor since 1990 and Team Leader since 1998 for over 25 years for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc, conducting over two dozen on-site inspections in police agencies in 15 states and Canada.

He was sworn in as the Greenhills Chief of Police on June 18, 2013.
